ITA has been the hottest boat in the 1999 World Cup races this summer. ITA also posted
the fastest heat time in Sydney, and should win this heat and remain the gold medal
favorite. The new combination from the USA is also doing well and will try to establish
itself solidly in 2nd place and move away from AUT, UKR and NED in the 3rd 500 meters. The
race for 3rd place and advancement to the FA final will probably come down to a last 500
meter sprint between UKR (2nd at 1999 Worlds) and NED (4th at 1999 Worlds), with the edge
