AS predicted, this was a very close finish etween AUS and FRA, who were 2nd and 3rd
respectively at the 1999 Worlds. Coming from three-quarters of a length behind AUS with
500 meters to go, FRA almost (but not quite) rowed AUS down, falling short by 0.03 seconds
at the finish line. The USA established itself early in 3rd and finished that way to
