FRA, 3rd at 1999 Worlds, won two World Cup appearances this summer and came to Sydney
as the Gold Medal favorite, replacing DEN's reigning World Champions who have suffered
from the loss of Thomas Poulsen due to injury. AUS, the 1999 Worlds silver medalist, has
not done as well as FRA at World Cup. FRA and AUS each won their heats, but FRA had a
slightly faster winning time. This should a close finish for 1st and 2nd between them,
with the edge to FRA for the victory. GER seems to have backed way off in its heat, and is
favored to place 3rd ahead of AUT and join FRA and AUS in the FA final.LANE CREW RELATIVE POSITIONS ELAPSED SPLIT
