FRA, the 1999 World silver medalist, and GBR had a real fight for the victory here.
FRA followed GBR closely for more than 1500, then turned on the juice in the last 500 and
passed GBR. FRA started reeling GBR in slowly in each 500 beginning with the 2nd 500, when
FRA stopped GBR's early move . (see moves in instant replay) RSA pulled itself back into
contention with a strong push in the 3rd 500 to move up on both GBR and FRA, continued its
move on GBR in the last 500 and had to hold off a furious close by CAN. In the end, RSA
