ROM disappointed no one today (except the other 5 boats in this Final) and comfortably
won the gold medal, adding 8 more gold medals to the 28 golds these ROM rowers already
had. At the 1000 meter mark it was anyone's guess who would win the silver and bronze
medals. Things started to sort out in the 3rd 500. As predicted, the USA, CAN and AUS
proved to have some vulnerability here, as NED broke free of the them into a solid 2nd
place position going into the last 500. CAN then stepped up among them in the last 500 to
