Prediction for Men's Single Scull Final

This prediction is simply a mix of each crew's split times recorded in semi-finals races. The following graphic shows how the FA final in this event would go, if every crew in it performs exactly as it did in its semi-final race.

Two surprises here are Tufte of Norway and Haacker of Germany. Tufte won his semi-final race in a dog fight with Chalupa of the Czech Republic, was a winner in the 1st World Cup in Princeton, but did not win any of the three World Cup competitions in between. Haacker won the last World Cup in Munich, but was eliminated from the FA final in Lucerne. Tufte's 3rd 500m split in Lucerne in the semi's (1:37, if corrrect) gave him an incredible surge coming from 3 lengths back at the 1000m mark. Chalupa, a long-time veteran sculler, showed good speed and endurance. He and Tufte will have to deal with expected challenges from Mueller of Switzerland, Cop of Slovenia and Yankiev of Bulgaria over the last 1000m.
